Globalization is changing our way of life, with freer movement of people, capital, jobs, trade and information.
Electrolux is one of the few global companies in our industry sector. We sell more than 55 million products to consumers in over 150 countries. And we are relocating some of our production to, and are buying more components from, Asia and Eastern Europe.
We believe that international growth brings with it both the opportunity to use our size and worldwide presence more effectively, and the challenge of managing responsibly the changes that come with an expanded market and evolving production strategies.
The Electrolux response:
- We are in the process of implementing a program to hold all our operations and those of our suppliers accountable to the same standards of workplace conduct and environmental compliance irrelevant of their location.
- In transferring our sustainably sound technologies and business practices to new markets, we are contributing to improving conditions in emerging markets.
- We are members of the UN Global Compact and endorse its 10 Principles. In this forum, we can take part in dialogue with UN agencies, labor and civil society about globalization-related issues.
- Our workplace and supplier codes and policies are based on fundamental conventions of the International Labor Organization and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
- We take part in the development of ISO26000 for social responsibility, formulating new guidelines for Social Responsible organizations through membership in the Swedish Technical Committee.
- In order to shape a global mindset in our organization, we encourage our employees to move among different functions, business sectors and countries.
