In both the EU and North America, a number of regulatory instruments are used to limit energy consumption of appliances, and more are expected- both in labelling and minimum energy standards. North America, in particular California, is leading the way with ever-stricter limits on emissions from outdoor products. Maximum noise levels have been introduced in many regions.
