Hans Stråberg has been the CEO of Electrolux since April 2002. In his 20 years with the company, he has constantly sought out new opportunities for growth. His experiences are a good example of how Electrolux can help people develop their careers through a variety of assignments within the Group.

Hans Stråberg joined Electrolux in 1983. Four years later he moved into his first senior position with the company, when he was given global responsibility for dishwashers and laundry products. In 1992, he became General Manager for the Group’s floor care operations in Västervik, Sweden. Just three years after that, he took over management for the Group’s North American white goods operations in the US. In 1998, Hans became head of the Group’s floor care and light appliances sector. Since then, he’s been a member of the Electrolux Group Management team.

Hans credits his career development to his willingness to be mobile. He also credits Electrolux for giving him opportunities to cross borders in terms of both functions and countries.

"The mobility of managers is one of the most effective ways to share knowledge within the Group," says Hans. "When a person moves, there is a two-way learning experience. You learn from a new organization, and the organization, in turn, gets an injection of new perspectives."

As a manager, Hans sees coaching as a big part of his job. "To me coaching means helping others to perform – helping others learn and develop. It’s the sincere intention to develop people to their full potential. And it’s something you need to do daily. I’ve done it – and I know that it works."
